Sunny aftrenoon running session ...

 Little running session today...

My friend bought round his battery powered diesel (Wifi controlled from a mobile) phone app)
We spent the afternoon watching the Bagnall 2-8-2, going round with longer and longer trains to see when it would not be able to manage any more - the limit was 22 wagons ....
I also ran another of my track powered locos with a shorter train ....

New Connection for the Controller and Test Running

I've had the connection between the controller and the track power setup using using a couple of crocodile clips with the other end being some brass screws.  A bit too fiddly and the brass screws had got a bit tarnished, so I decided on an update -  a hifi speaker connector and socket that I had stashed away,

controller in position and connected up in the control box (an old external letter box) ....
Run testing - hoorah the soldering I had done worked ok and the trains they did a run ... the little speeder
and a first run on the garden layout for the big 2-8-2 Bagnall.

Track cleaning day ...

Having sprayed the track with some cleaning fluid a couple of days back; out today with the track rubber (attached to a broom handle to save me kneeling) to polish the rail tops....

With the track nice and clean, track powered loco testing done - ready to run a train .... however rain followed by a heavy thunderstorm stopped play .😡..

Hoorah ! some nice weather today; after some gardening (planting out a few new plants and sorting out some pots)... time to run a train ...

I got the Tram loco out for a run now I'd sorted out easy battery pack access.. running with a short train of 'empties' ...

LocoWorks- Tram Loco - battery pack access

I don't use my tram loco much, as I have to take it apart to put in and remove the battery pack

So I decided to remove part of the side skirt so I have easy access for the battery pack (I have a two more locos built on a Playmobil chassis with the same battery pack use).
battery pack fits alright...
I filled in the top part of the gap (the edge of the access hole has since been painted black)...
ideally I would have liked a some sort of cover over the hole, but the battery pack's pull handle sticks out too far. So no excuse not to use it now 😀

Sunny weather - time to run a train ...

Decided to remove the planting from the narrow borders by the edge of the garden railway at the top of the layout; replaced with gravel for easy maintenance...

with a bag of gravel left over, I took the opportunity to re-ballast the track through the cutting to the halt...
Making good use of the sunny weather ran a train round (using a battery RC loco)...
