CVR Indoors - progress at last

A number of my garden Railway projects have been languishing uncompleted. I decided to catch up and as it is not the best weather for working outside I decided to get my little indoor 'test track' layout into shape. I decided on the simplest approach to get the best results.

I built up the area in front of the track enough to hold back some ballast (alpine grit); the grass is from a dolls house supplier. A few added scenic items have got it looking really nice. A shot of the freight area and headshunt.

A look at the bridge (used as a scenic break), and the siding which doubles for freight loading as well.
And lastly a closer view of the station.

Still a few more things todo. I've got to paint the bridge, put in some more small trees and add the road crossing.

CVR Indoors - Station completed

The station building and telephone box are some kiddies toy oddments I got at a car boot. The lamps are from a doll's house range. Flower boxes again from dolls house supplier.
I'll be doing the scenic break next; can't decide on bridge or tunnel entrance.

At last I've finished building and painting the Crane and it's Mess&Tool van.

I think I need to add some appropriate lettering and numbers ..

Diesels 'Double Head'

A recent running session saw my 'Little Critter' disel double-head with my scratchbuilt freelance diesel (which had recently had a replacement motion). I needed both of them to get the pulling power for the train which had one of the wagon loaded with a heavy die cast car.

First Running session this year.

A view of the town after one of the paths has been re-laid to run alongside the track (for ease of access)...Trying out the permanent works train, to check clearances etc before finishing painting the tool/mess van and the crane.

CVR Indoors - 2

My indoor 'branch' of the CVR has now moved on a stage. I managed to find a cheap large HO backscene at A Toy and Train fair which I though would look great. So last weekend I put up some backscne boards and glued on the backscene.

The rolling stock looks right now against it; an added extra is I've got a lovely panoramic view to look at while I'm sitting at my modelling desk.

Now that spring is here, I feel I want get some running sessions in.

I've got a bit of major garden rework to finish (new path/border), then I can get onto the railway.

I've managed do so some work on the track. Removal of weeds etc. Some of the builidngs need repairing and a lick of paint.

New Rolling Stock

Car Transporter - converted (not quite finished yet) backmann wagon:

New box car from Bachmann (replaced the running gear)

What of the crane and tool van, these are still awaiting their final coat of paint (doh ! must finish this project off).
